Alpha Lipoic Acid – Worth Reading

Available in each cell of your body – very much like glutatione – alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is an antioxidant that helps your cells transform glucose into energy. Different from antioxidants like Vitamin C which can exclusively work in water or vitamin E which only works in fat , ALA functions in both water and fat. It functions everywhere in your body. Like other antioxidants, ALA helps clear free radicals -metabolic waste – from your cells before they become junked up and toxic from a build up of waste. As opposed to many other antioxidants, ALA has the ability to help to revive other antioxidants after they have cleared out the odd electrons and renders them ready to continue to neutralize more free radicals.

ALA is also used as a short form for Alpha Linolenic Acid which is an omega-3 fatty acid, connected with heart health, but this is a different substance from Alpha lipoic acid – also referred to as Lipoic Acid.
Several studies have indicated that ALA may be able to help reduce levels of blood sugar and combined with it’s antioxidant properties, ALA could possibly be beneficial to people suffering from diabetic peripheral neuropathy, relieving some of the discomfort brought about by nerve damage.

Scientists are studying alpha lipoic acid to determine its effectiveness against glaucoma although they are yet to collect enough data, but because it can pass easily to the brain, it is possible that ALA may well be useful as a protector against brain and nerve tissue damage. It is now being studied as a possible treatment for stroke and other brain problems with root causes based on free radical damage. Dementia is one such condition.

ALA is an ingredient in Cellgevity where it contributes to the regeneration of the network antioxidants and supports the glutathione network.

Why Your Heart Demands Antioxidants

It’s your ” Little Engine That Could”. And it does, everyday of you life.Your heart is truly a wonderous design .  Even before your birth , the muscles in your heart are working hard , pumping oxygen enriched blood to each part in you and returnin oxygen depleted blood back into the lungs.  On average, a heart will beat 37,869,120 times each year , year after year.  That’s around two and a half billion heartbeats for your lifetime .

Obviously , the heart is a powerhouse and needs to be looked after. As you already know , no one can survive without a beating heart and indeed, with an average of two deaths a minute ,  40% of all the deaths in the U.S.) are caused by heart disease, the leading cause of which is CAD- Coronary Artery Disease

Since it’s the hardest working organ in the body, the heart muscles will produce a continuous supply    of energy and it’s this massive level of energy production which renders the heart vulnerable to the problem of free radicals. Hence , a heart has a high requirement for antioxidants, the most valuable of which is Glutathione.

The Heart’s Energy Factory

Your heart’s extraordinary ability to produce energy is found inside each cell in the cellular power plants called Mitochondria.  Each cell in every organ has these tiny energy producing sites .  On average, most cells have a few hundred mitochondria, but the cells in your heart have about 5,000! The power that’s produced in the cells, is created as a substance known as ATP or adenosine triphosphate.  But , energy production has a price .

The by- products of creating energy are damaged molecules – free radicals and with so many mitochondria in the cells of the heart , there will also be a matching population of oxy-radicals . Without the intervention of antioxidants , free radicals will develop a cascading reaction within the heart cells that will kill them and their components – including the cellular DNA.

Heart Disease and Coronary Artery Disease

Arteriosclerosis – Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) which is commonly called hardening of the arteries or loss of arterial elasticity is one of the main causes of Heart disease. It has been linked to something known as lipid peroxidase. That’s what happens when the lipids in your heart are converted into free radicals.  Lipids, actually are a large group of molecules that include waxes, sterols, fats and the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E & K.  In addition to   elevated levels of Free radicals, patients with CAD also have reduced levels of antioxidants including Glutathione.  Without a sufficient reserve of antioxidants to clean out free radicals in the heart, it and its arteries will eventually suffer from oxidative stress.

Human bodies have originally been designed to manage free radicals created by normal processes, however most of us are subject to extra stressors that weren’t part of the original plan . They include environmental poisons ( like tobacco smoke!), poor diets, the hectic pace and induced stress of everyday living and poor conditioning of our muscles from a lack of exercise.  We have put our antioxidant reserves at a dangerous disadvantage.

Why You Need More  Glutathione and Other Antioxidants

As we age , our systems naturally begin to slow down. The mitochondria in our cells inevitably produce less energy and we also naturally begin to produce less glutathione – which is necessary for a healthy heart.  Boosting glutathione supply will not make us live forever, but given how hard your heart works , it must make sense to  eat better ,  live a healthier lifestyle and make a choice  to boost our supply of glutathione.

Oral Glutathione supplements are not effective, but you can increase your glutathione with a glutathione precursor like Cellgevity.

Turmeric Root Extract in Cellgevity

Curcumin (Turmeric Root Extract) is a highly effective inflammation fighter and antioxidant . Used for more than twenty five hundred years in Asia, originally as a dye, but has steadily proven more health benefits over the years. Really, its fairly amazing when you contemplate the number of feasible health benefits that curcumin might offer from something as simple as its position as an antiseptic and antibacterial agent to an ability to clear away the accumulation of the Amyloyd fibers which create Amyloyd (a.k.a. Alzheimer’s) plaque in the brain.

Curcumin naturally helps liver detoxification and its effective anti inflammatory components are useful in dealing with arthritis & rheumatoid arthritis, with none of the side effects brought about by the prescription anti-inflammatory drugs. It’s a natural pain killer.

Doing work as an antioxidant, Turmeric root extract supplements the performance of other antioxidants in you and helps to scavenge oxy radicals before they can hurt the cells in our bodies.

Turmeric is being checked into as a possible protection to prevent cancer metastasizing and has demonstrated that it can avoid breast cancers in mice from migrating into the lungs. It might attack melanoma cells, lower the risk of childhood Leukemia and is also being looked at for its effect on pancreatic, prostate , colon, esophageal and breast cancers. It has demonstrated an ability to halt the growth of new blood vessels in tumors.

Whats more, it looks that it might also help your body to burn fat and might be valuable for weight management and as well, many Indian women attribute their wonderful skin to the consumption of Turmeric.

Turmeric Root Extracts position in Cellgevity is as an antioxidant. Additionally it benefits the glutathione network by inducing the phase II enzymes that help the glutathione detoxification process.

Why Your Brain Needs Antioxidant Protection

From your first day to your last and for each microsecond in between , there is a battle raging in each system in your body .  There are easily millions of these battles happening simultaneously and they have oxyradicals on one hand and antioxidants opposing them . These batttles affect how long you live , your vulnerability to many different medical conditions and without question the quality of your life and health as a senior citizen .

A human brain is highly vulnerable to oxidative stress because while it only accounts for about 2% of your mass of your body , about 20% of the oxygen you take in is required by your brain.  Oxy or free radicals – unstable oxygen molecules are created by by a variety of things , but a major  cause is a natural and unavoidable by-product of metabolizing oxygen . Since twenty percent of your oxygen supply goes to your brain, it stands to reason that your brain will be subjected to a high number of free radicals.

In your mind is a major concentration of naturally occurring molecules called Lipids. Lipids include sterols, waxes, fats and a seletion of fat soluble vitamins like D, A, E and K. Lipids act as signaling molecules and are uses for energy storage and are structural components of your cell membranes.  Lipid peroxidation is the name given to free radical Lipid damage and a reason for the importance of antioxidant supplements .

Your defense from Lipid peroxidation in your brain is from antioxidants and in particular a small subset known as Network Antioxidants or the Antioxidant Network ,  made up of Vitamins E, C CoEnzymeQ10, Lipolic acid and Glutathione.  Network Antioxidants work together to clean up free radicals in the brain and they are uniquely able to repair the others in the group .  Among the Network Antioxidants, the most important is Glutathione laso known as The Master Antioxidant. Glutathione is naturally manufactured in your body and are present in each and every cell.

Sadly , your brain maintains lower levels of   Glutathione than other parts of your body and with aging , the natural supply is even less because the ability to make Glutathione falls by around 10% for every decade after our twenties.  But a brain must have Glutathione to be healthy.  Think about the role that Antioxidants play in connection with Alzheimer’s Disease – also known as senile dementia.

There is a powerful link between aluminum and Alzheimer’s disease . In a study conducted in 2009 on laboratory rats , two equal groups were deliberately given aluminum toxins, but group was also dosed with antioxidant oxyradicals scavengers.  Group one experienced a significant increase in lipid peroxidation and developed oxidative stress – which is the result of rampant free radical damage.  Reduced glutathione and other network antioxidants were also recorded . For the group that was provided with the toxins and the free radical scavengers, none of these changes were found .

With the brain’s vulnerability to the formation of lipid peroxides a plentiful store of antioxidants ( in particular Network Antioxidants and most specifically , the master antioxidant Glutathione) is key to having a healthy and functioning brain. While oral glutathione supplements are not considered to be effective, you can take a glutathione precursor like Cellgevity from Max International .

MaxGXL with NAC or Cellgevity with RiboCeine – You Choose

A very exciting health supplement has been brought to market to support your own production of glutathione.  In case you haven’t heard of Glutathione, it provides a number of important benefits to your health including strengthening the immune system, cleaning toxic substances from your cells , helping to combat inflammation and neutralizing free radicals.

Free radicals are an important subject because the damage that free radicals cause in your body has been connected to over 74 serious illnesses and disorders and the main weapon we can call on to help prevent the damage caused by oxidative stress is Antioxidants.  Antioxidants are molecules that can stop the multiplication of free radicals, which left unchecked can lead to an endless chain reaction of incomplete molecules that eventually destroy the cells and the organs in your body .  With the many antioxidants available to us , one does a superior job of defending your cells against the damage caused by free radicals and that antioxidant is Glutathione.

Glutathione is naturally produced in your body. Unfortunately , aging slows the creation of glutathione and -when you need it most, your Glutathione levels decline .  It would be an easy thing to correct if you could just supplement with glutathione , but that is not the case .  Oral glutathione supplements are not effective , because as they pass through the digestive tract , the glutathione is damaged by your gastric juices and can’t be absorbed into the bloodstream.

The strategy that actually works is using glutathione precursors. Precursors are the building blocks that your body uses to manufacture glutathione naturally .  By supplying your body with an increased supply of the raw materials it needs , serum and liver glutathione levels are raised naturally – and significantly .  Up until now the most effective product that I know of to support glutathione levels is MAXGXL from Max International. But now it appears that this company has taken it one step better and developed a new Glutathione precursor called Cellgevity.

MaxONE has a new compound called RiboCeine,  and it has been featured prominently in connection with MAX ATP (I’ll write about ATP later ). RiboCeine gets the name from D-Ribose – a very basic version of sugar that helps the body produce ATP and L-Cysteine, perhaps the most important materials from which the body manufactures glutathione. While MAXGXL uses a blend of L Glutamine and NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine), MAXONE also uses RiboCeine, because it is better able to protect the Cysteine as it travels through the stomach and deliver more to the cells, resulting in 300% higher liver glutathione levels .

Some Words About Glutathione

Do you need to learn more about heart disease, pain, liver disorders, male infertility, Cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, inflammatory diseases or are you concerned about your aging body? If so, you’ll be well advised to do a little bit of research on antioxidants  and of all the antioxidants you can look into, you should learn more about Glutathione.

Glutathione, a small molecule in the body, is formed by three amino acids. The product of these amino acids exists in every cell in your body. But, it can only  be produced by your body. Glutathione is vital to your immune system. It aids in the production of lymphocytes, the cells that combat particular diseases and illnesses . These cells produce oxiradicals to protect us from diseases, and to produce them , the body needs more antioxidants. Your body will also, ironically, use antioxidants to get rid of the free oxyradicals .

We can use the food we eat to fuel the creation of the amino acids needed to also manufacture glutathione as well as building it from the acids already there in the cells . There are a variety of  foods to provide the fuel to make glutathione. Watermelon and asparagus are two such foods , as are many other fresh vegetables, fruits, and  meat . Whey protein is also a good source . Oral glutathione supplements are not usually absorbed into our systems. That’s a shame, since our ability to manufacturer glutathione declines dramatically after our twenties. Glutathione precursors like Cellgevity on the other hand, will help our body boost Glutathione production.

It’s important to note that Cellgevity as a precursor does not contain Glutathione.  It contains other substances that your body uses to help it manufacture more glutathione on it’s own.

Glutathione has earned it’s reputation as the Master antioxidant. It will also help our body make repairs caused by infection, radiation treatments, stress, injury, poor diet, and even burns and trauma . Antioxidants remove free radicals. This keeps our cells working as they should . Glutathione also aids the liver to remove foreign chemicals and other pollutants . As a matter of fact, most glutathione is manufacturered in your liver.

Who should look at increasing the amount of glutathione  or supplementing with Cellgevity? Anyone who is dealing with high blood pressure, cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Disease, cataracts, or male infertility issues may benefit from more glutathione. It can also help when recovering from chemotherapy and other radiation treatments. However, it is important to note that studies are still being done on glutathione, and it may not affect everyone in the same way.

Increase your glutathione with Cellgevity

Everyone Wants a Stronger Immune System

Our only natural asset for fighting sickness is our own immune system. We don’t pay enough attention to making it stronger and in fact, only seem to really be interested in our health when it leaves us.  Then we just reach for drugs.  A health approach based on wellness would help us strengthen and support that asset .

Bad diets, too much stress and aging all detract from the strength of our immune systems. Getting older is particularly destructive and sadly , unavoidable . Our cellular and antibody functions slow and chronic inflammation which seems to go hand and hand   with many diseases of old age sets in . Chronic inflammation (think heart disease & rheumatoid arthritis) is also connected to   oxyradicals and the damage they cause at the cellular level . This will come as no surprise to anyone who is an advocate of the importance of antioxidants.

Supporting our immune system by upping our antioxidant levels to help take out the free radicals damaging our cells is a route worth examining . We can do this through our diet and health products like Cellgevity to help increase your glutathione, which could easily be the leading defender against the free radical damaging . We also need to deal with our stress levels and please get up , get some exercise and put the cookies away !

Besides glutathione, there are other antioxidants that are powerful immune system supporters . There are Vitamins E and C along with the B-vitamins, and they’re available as antioxidant supplements. Vitamin A is another one and CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant but as we get older our production of it flags . Minerals that matter to our immune system include copper, zinc and selenium . The Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and flax seed oils have been found to offset suppression of the cellular immune system .

Support a weak immune system with products like RGarden’s Epicor. Improving intestinal health with digestive enzymes is one of your immune system boosters

Cellgevity, Antioxidant Foods and Heart Disease

Cardiovascular   illness isn’t caused by one cause and so it’s not accurate to say that one answer will work for everyone.  And in fact, some circumstances could be completely out of your control. But, it’s still a good concept to made whatever improvements you can to help your health . For one thing – we know that oxyradical damage to the cells can build up and left untreated lead to damaging the heart and cardiovascular system.  Science has demonstrated that antioxidants can destroy free radicals and stop that damage. So, will taking antioxidant supplements  combat heart disease?

Up until now, no one is certain . Antioxidant vitamin E supplements , for one , haven’t been shown to reduce the likelihood of stroke, heart disease, or other cardiovascular problems . While the supplement may contain antioxidants, they don’t seem to help.

Antioxidants are also available from beta carotene supplements , but doctors agree  excessive amounts of beta carotene is not a good thing . It can instead cause an increase  in cardiovascular and other heart issues and diseases So mega dosing beta carotene in order to inject anti oxidants into your body to combat heart and/or cardiovascular issues is -you’ll agree- a lousy idea.

The best route appears to stem from consuming foods rich in antioxidants.

Fruits, whole grain foods and vegetables that contain antioxidants have been proven to decrease the likelihood of heart disease.  To help lower your risk of cardiovascular diseases, you might need to modify your diet to include some of the most richly concentrated antioxidant foods like – dried beans – red, kidney and pinto ; wild blueberries; other berries like cultivated blueberries, cranberries and raspberries . There are more , but just how hard is it to add dried beans and berries to your diet?

Natural antioxidants are the best start and another natural antioxidant is  L-glutathione which is produced in the body.  As the Master Antioxidant, glutathione should be considered as another tool in your heart disease protection arsenal . Too bad that it’s not all that well absorbed in the form of an oral antioxidant supplement .  A better idea is to supplement with  a glutathione precursor like Cellgevity from Max International.

And if you really want to help your heart by boosting your level of antioxidants – stop smoking. (Hardly much of a news flash, is it?) Smoking has been conclusively connected to the introduction of free radicals, so you’ll need to take even more antioxidants just to make up for the smoking. While you’re at it – watch your blood pressure, eat foods high in fiber and other nutrients, and exercise regularly .

.

Cellgevity is Not a Glutathione Supplement

there are many different antioxidant supplements on the market and without any question, antioxidants a critically important to your health but what shoudl you do when you find that the most important antioxidant – Glutathine – doesn’t work as an  oral supplement?

Tell Me About Glutathione .

Glutathione is an antioxidant that is manufactured in your body . Technically, it’s a tri-peptide of the amino acids glutamine or glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine and found in every cell of our body. That means it’s immediately available where it will be needed – one of glutathiones many special attributes.  But Glutathione is really a lot more than that.

It’s known as   the Master Antioxidant and lacking it , better known but not as important antioxidants, such as Vitamins C and E which are the most abundant fat and water soluble antioxidants that we use won’t work to their maximum ability . As well , Glutathione is used in the repair of DNA, supports the immune system and the detoxification of toxins from air and water pollution, along with many carcinogens and cigarette smoke . You liver loves glutathione.

Adding to your serum levels of Glutathione is an important health improvement .  Research has repeatedly shown that some of the most infamous conditions connected to aging , like Osteoporosis, Type II Diabetes and High Blood Pressure are clearly accompanied with a fall in Glutathione levels.

As we pass our twenties (and could use the help !) our body doesn’t produce as much Glutathione. This is why many thoughtful and health conscious people are buying   glutathione supplements.  But a supplement is not the way to go .  To increase your Glutathione levels, don’t rely on glutathione supplements.

But there are a lot of alternatives   available if you choose to raise your level of glutathione and one option is diet .  Why not choose 4-5 servings a day of the right vegetables and fruits like broccoli, asparagus, spinach and avocado . Healthy food choices will help provide your body with more of whatit needs to produce its own glutathione.  Other natural sources of the raw materials to help accelerate your Glutathione production include Milk Thistle, Whey Protein, Selenium and Turmeric.

The second option available is to take glutathione precursors, which are products with the nutrients your body uses in order to boost its own natural production and over come one of the downsides of aging. Cellgevity from Max International is one product you can try.

Free Radicals are not Political

The older you get, the more you should care about the Free Radical Theory of Aging . If you’ve never heard of free radicals, I can assure you that they are not politically motivated, but are quite distructive never the less. Free radicals  are unstable or damaged molecules that will steal an electron from another nearby molecule in order to restablize themselves. But, when they do that they make a new unstable molecule and the cycle repeats – creating a chain reaction that damages the organ systems in your body as deep as the cellular level.

Just check out the wrinkles on a 50+ sunbather if you doubt the impact of cellular damage on aging . with the skin we can see a visible change . We cannot see the brain, liver or heart .  But arteries get stopped – with cellular junk – and joints turn swollen with chronic inflammation- which is directly caused by free radicals.

But at least there is some help. Antioxidants are nature’s answer to free radicals . Antioxidants are molecules that are capable of donating an electron to a free radical without becoming unstable themselves. They halt the chain reaction and prevent the damage.

But,  where do free radicals come from ? There are two main sources of free radicals – one source is the outside environment – think of pollution and cigarette smoke and all the chemicals and toxins we regularly ingest . The other source of free radicals is us .   There are four separate ways that our bodies make free radicals – oxidants.

Daily metabolism – I’ll keep the long scientific words out of this account because they’re just too hard to spell. But let’s just say that our body, uses oxygen as fuel and converts it to water. In the process, the oxygen molecule is not completely and cleanly utilised. There are by-products called oxy-radicals- our own version of nuclear waste- So that’s one – huge source of free radicals.

Oxidants are not all bad, we use them to fight chronic infections, bacteria and parasites. Unfortunately, nearby cells are exposed to free radical damage . Too bad that we can get burned when we fight fire with fire . We also produce hydrogen peroxide- another free radical version of oxygen – when we metabolize some fatty acids.

These processes go on every day and are happening in millions of cells at once . It’s not surprising that antioxidant supplements are so popular and a great piece of news that our body also produces some superb antioxidants like glutathione and CoEnzymeQ10 to help us deal with them.

In a final irony , an enzyme called cytochrome P450 is used by our bodies to defend against toxins like drugs, other foreign chemicals and pesticides. In the process of creating this enzyme, our body will also produce free radicals. In a way, this makes the external toxins doubly damaging.

If you’re interested in helping your body combat the aging effects of free radicals, you need to support your supply of antioxidants. Some antioxidants, like Vitamins C and E can be supplemented and unquestionably a healthy diet is very important. Other antioxidants like Glutathione cannot be supplied as an oral  supplement although you can provide your body with the precursors -raw materials- to produce it yourself. One such product is Cellgevity, the Glutathione precursor from Max International.
